Professional Course – Become a User Experience Designer
About This Workshop
In this fast paced and immersive part-time course across 10 weeks you will learn about user experience design: its principles, processes and practices and develop a good understanding of the craft skills that a user experience designer applies to define user-centric experiences in the product-service continuum. This workshop is an active and participatory course that is part time and designed for people looking to start a career as a UX Designer or upgrade and augment their skills.
Why do this course?
We teach the core skills and practices used and needed by UX Designers; how to research user needs, use data informed strategies, define pinpoints and need statements, develop personas and empathy maps, map customer journeys, build wireframes, prototype ideas and undertake resonance and usability testing.
We explore Lean UX principles and agile ways of working and teach you how to collaborate and co-create with Dev teams by defining ‘Epics and Stories’ – the common currency of the agile team. We’ll equip you with a working and practical knowledge of how to be a UX Designer using skills and techniques that can applied in your day-to-day job as a UX designer. The course will enable you to develop your skills and expertise bu working on assignments and projects as you build your portfolio.

We have aimed this course at graduates, non-design professionals as well as professional designers that wish to develop and augment their skills as they shift and move into UX design to become a professional designer.

The Trainer
Pete Fossick is a seasoned UX and Service designer with over 20 years experience that has worked in the USA, UK, EU, MENA, SE Asia and Australia with the world’s leading corporations where he has UX and service design teams. Peter was the Service Design Program Director at IBM, the Director of Strategic Design at Boston Consulting Group and he has led numerous design teams in London’s leading design agencies.
He is also an academic that is a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art (London, UK) and has lectured at the Glasgow School of Art (Glasgow, UK). He has been the course or programme leader at Central Saint Martins (London, UK), Middlesex University, (UK), the Hong Kong Design Institute (PRC) and Savannah College of Art and Design (USA).
